To be freaking out?!

May well be overreacting.

I work at a law firm, almost newly qualified. One of the senior partners had some work for me to do, we caught up and agreed to catch up again midday today, all fine. I did the work in the meantime and told him I was around to help with anything else...

At 10am today, he asks me to quickly go to his desk to catch up on another matter - I’m not at my desk so tell him I can chat on the phone or chat when back in - no answer. No answer either to my other emails that day asking him to let me know when is convenient to catch up/send the completed work back. Appreciate he’s super busy but a bit of me is freaking out! Do I need to calm down

He was busy, don't overthink it.

Why are you freaking out?

Cornpoppin · 10/08/2018 19:59

I don’t know!

Are you anxious that you're in trouble or worried something g has happened to him?

Hemlock2013 · 10/08/2018 20:01

Calm down, he’s probably just not at his desk either. Something else came up or he was called away for something. If he wanted to meet he would have...

It’s new lawyer nerves I reckon

Oh anxious that I’m in trouble ha!

Goodness you are a worrier 😀 I'm quite sure something more important came up and he got involved with that or even had to leave the office. My sister is a lawyer and has her own law firm. I can't tell you how many times she makes plans to talk to me but then mysteriously disappears off the face of the earth due to an emergency with a client/something to do with the office. Please don't worry about it and just enjoy your weekend!

littlestrawby · 10/08/2018 20:04

ahh he prob just has some other work that he wants to give you to do or something. if it was something important he would have got back to you!

Cornpoppin · 10/08/2018 20:06

Just nervous as I was at an appt which took longer than expected - wasn’t back at desk for a good hour. I explained that I was away but could chat on phone, feel stressed!

I was the same when I was new at my firm but the senior partners don't realise that a throwaway request like that can strike the fear of god into someone...Grin. Genuinely, if it was something that was an issue he would have followed through on discussing with you. It will be a complete anti-climax when you catch up with him next week!

Put it out of your mind and have a nice weekend :)
