To think this man can fuck off

Walking with my friend along a row of shops. Man on his mobile flicks his fag end and it landed on the top of her babies pram.
He was completely oblivious whilst we checked the baby was ok/got rid of it/cleared the Ash and checked for damage.
He noticed eventually but said nothing. I told him to be more careful and dispose of his cigarette in the provided ashtray (he was a customer outside the shop) he then proceeded to get mouthy and aggressive/defensive. We moved on.
I think I was OK to say something to him but his reaction was awful. I wasn't rude and spoke to him calmly. Why are people like this? The older I get the more I feel standards are slipping.

Have you seen that Black Mirror episode where everyone rates each other? It was horrifying, but I'd like to have something a bit similar where you can report a twat, and if enough unrelated people independently report the same person, that person gets a small punishment. Should make people treat others a bit better...

Mumminmum · 10/08/2018 16:23

some people just cannot take critizism at all.

Lindalee3 · 10/08/2018 16:27

What a massive twat. Sorry your friend had to tolerate that! Sad

@ThePants999

And yeah, the Black Mirror where everyone had to rate each other - 5 stars down to 1, like ebay - was brilliant, and it should be like that in real life!

People who were graded lower, had to pay higher rents, higher mortgage rates, and higher air fares, and higher prices for holidays etc, and it made people make effort to be nice to each other.

Great idea! Grin

It has James Norton in it too. hubba hubba Grin

We had a lit cigarette end flicked into the buggy when DS was tiny. It was an accident, woman was walking along with cigarette in hand and flicked it behind her quite forcefully without looking. The whole top bit came off. DS wasn’t burned but there was a scorch mark and hole in the buggy liner near his face and hhe had ash in his eye.

I went ballistic, screamed, caused a big fuss because I was in such a panic. The woman put the (already out because it had no end) cigarette out and did look shaken but didn’t even apologise. The crowd were quite nasty to her. I like to think she never smoked again.

What wankers

delphguelph · 10/08/2018 16:39

Many crisps has it

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 10/08/2018 16:41

What a scumbag.

Although in relation to Nosedive the whole point was what a bad idea that was and why 😂

The same thing happened with another episode White Bear, were the whole point was that it was terrible but a lot of the Twitter reaction was "Good. That's exactly what should happen."

I have no problem with specific ASBO style report thing though.

They have brought "ratings" in in China, not a regime to emulate

SavoyCabbage · 10/08/2018 16:57

I was walking down the high street this afternoon and there were two people talking and taking up half the pavement.

The woman in front of me squeezed past with her young children holding both of their hands.

One of the chatters was holding a dog on a lead and the dog jumped up and put it’s paws on the shoulders of the boy who was about four and it pushed the boy into the busy road!

A car just missed him and beeped its horn and the mother was helicoptering her child out of the road with one arm whilst not letting go of the other child and the dog holding chatter saw the whole thing and didn’t even break his conversation.

In Glasgow you can get an £80 on the spot fine if you don't put cigarette ends (or any other rubbish) in the bin, and they have community officers to patrol/enforce it. Last time I was there the streets were very clean compared to some other cities so it seems to work.

ModreB · 10/08/2018 16:59

I have been known to pick up litter that someone has dropped, when I saw them drop it and return it LOUDLY with a trill "Ooh, you forgot this that you dropped onto the floor" I've even done this and chucked it onto their laps, in a car, without the plastic bags.

Funnily enough, car parks at Thornton on Cleveleys are horrible for this with the fish and chip remains.

Many , what makes you think he was a chav, could be an investment banker for all you know.

RaspberryRipple1963 · 10/08/2018 17:03

I have come to the conclusion that nowadays, the majority of people are unable to take the slightest criticism, even when they must know that they are in the wrong. I have noticed this more and more over the last ten years.
An incident that happened to me about a year ago springs to mind. I was walking along a busy high street with my DD,and there was a woman behind me,getting closer and closer. I'm disabled and use a walking stick,so I can't walk very fast, and it doesn't take much to trip me up as I'm rather unsteady on my feet. I slowed slightly to let this woman overtake me,but no,she persisted in walking on my heels until eventually she managed to tread on the the back of my flip flop, making me stumble. If my DD hadn't grabbed my arm I probably would have fallen over. I gave this woman a look,I didn't say anything as she looked what I would call 'a bit rough'. She then proceeded to start shouting abuse at me! To say I was taken aback was an understatement. My DD was going to go after her and challenge her (she's not afraid of anyone,my DD,it's like having a guard dog with me Grin) but I stopped her and said it wasn't worth the aggro. I put it down to yet another example of cuntish behaviour.

SnuggyBuggy · 10/08/2018 17:08

YANBU. Pretty grim behaviour.

And surely an investment banker would be smoking an expensive cigar Grin

OliviaStabler · 10/08/2018 17:09

Some people can't bear to be reprimanded even if they are in the wrong.

AngelsSins · 10/08/2018 17:13

Probably just a typical knob head man, they don’t like being told anything by a insignificant woman.

Figlessfig · 10/08/2018 17:49

Re the “chav” comments, people on low incomes don’t have a monopoly on shitty behaviour. It happens all the way up the social spectrum.

At least “chavs” have excuses - little education and the stress of unrelenting poverty.
