A friend set up a charity a while back. The cause is very good and totally in line with her skills and she has been very successful in achieving her goals, which involve helping very sick children. This friend has a high earning DH and doesn’t need to earn money to help support her family. Indeed, they live a lavish lifestyle.

My friend constantly fundraises among everyone she knows in order to finance her project. Yes, it’s a very worthwhile activity but lots of people have worthwhile charitable activities and don’t think their friends should fund them, especially when their friends have much less lavish lifestyles.

AIBU not to contribute?

You don't have to contribute anything. You can always say you've already given this years charity money to something else and you just don't have it in the budget to given anymore.
She'll sulk and moan and you just say you'll keep hers in mind for next year.
