To have shouted shut up!

I probably was but I don’t care 😂

Neighbours who back on to me. I complained to them before about their constant parties. It went quiet for a while. Tonight, first cool night in ages that I could enjoy lying on my bed feeling a decent breeze. They start doing karaoke, in the garden, badly, and it’s nearly 11. Put up with it for half an hour and just waited for a break in the song then shouted shut up very loudly out of my window. Light was off so they may or may not know it was me! They definitely heard though as all quiet now! But really who thinks it is ok to be singing karaoke as a big group in the garden at nearly 11 on a week night??

You were 100% right.

If they carry on go over and give them a couple of verses of Pearl's a Singer 😀😀

ManyCrisps · 09/08/2018 22:55

The world needs more people like yourself

Storm4star · 09/08/2018 22:58

The thing is I know the people on one side of me are elderly and on the other side is a woman with a toddler. They don’t need to be woken up by that crap. Although hopefully my “shut up” didn’t wake them if they were sleeping! All our houses are crammed together (Victorian terraces) so I really feel these people should have more consideration for their neighbours.

I’m with you but you wait, there will be load of people soon saying that there is nothing wrong with this and you should expect it. If you want quiet then go and live in the middle of no where.

I personally think you were right to shout. Did they shut up though?

Storm4star · 09/08/2018 23:04

They actually did! I even heard a couple of people saying “bye” to each other so hopefully they realised they were being out of order. I really wish I could move to the middle of nowhere! It’s my dream! Sadly an unaffordable/impractical one at present.

Good on you

CharlotteFlax · 09/08/2018 23:12

You were clearly NBU cos they did exactly what you asked without argument!

Storm4star · 09/08/2018 23:18

I know, I think it’s just me that I feel bad shouting at people! So then I think I have BU Blush but I was in bed. I really didn’t want to have to get dressed and go out there to ask them politely.

If you have to get up early for work OP, may I suggest a rousing verse of I Am Henry the 8th I Am?

I presume you have seen Ghost? Grin

LighthouseSouth · 09/08/2018 23:21

It's fine, really, you did the right thing and good for you.

HelenUrth · 09/08/2018 23:24

I can't say you're unreasonable as I only came in from the garden 20 minutes ago having shouted over the back wall to turn the music down. Entitled 19 year old little shit who has been indulged all his life so far, his folks are away so he has his mates around.

I've never done this before, but the entitled 28 year old little shit next door has been doing this for the last couple of weeks until Mummy and Daddy came back last weekend to their hard working little boy who's studying smoking week and drinking so hard. And I'm fucking sick to death of the noise and out of patience.
I'm tempted to start blasting It's a Small World but then I'd annoy the other neighbours too!

strawberrypenguin · 09/08/2018 23:24

Not unreasonable at all! Good for you!

Storm4star · 09/08/2018 23:25

My voice is truly horrendous, well I think I sound fantastic but the fact my DCs have always covered their ears and begged me to stop singing tells me i’m probably deluded 😂 so yes me singing anything may well have shut them up too! Although the neighbours rendition of Bonnie Tyler’s, total eclipse of the heart caused my ears to bleed!

rednsparkley · 09/08/2018 23:29

You were absolutely right - I have more than one set of these kind of neighbours and it makes every single sunny weekend a fucking nightmare (and some weeknights too seeing as it's the holidays)

Feral kids on trampolines till gone midnight, loud music, karaoke, sex ponds, screaming, cackling..... endless shite behaviour. If you call them on it they get abusive. We have had to spend so many warm evenings with the windows tightly shut :-( I hate them all and if I won the lottery I would purchase all their houses and evict them!!

violets17 · 09/08/2018 23:35

rednsparkley - what's a sexpond?? Have I been indoors with the DCs for too long?

Chillyegg · 09/08/2018 23:35

...not to derail what’s a sex pond??? Are they normal ponds that your neighbours shag in? ...I couldn’t imagine anything worse than getting down and dirty next to a newt...

Storm4star · 09/08/2018 23:37

Well I am now feeling thankful there’s no sex ponds here! No that does sound awful red, I guess i’m lucky it’s only this one set of neighbours that’s a pain.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 09/08/2018 23:38

Would a sexpond be a hot tub? 🤨

Maelstrop · 09/08/2018 23:43

I think you were absolutely brilliant, the neighbours around you probably love you. I’m firmly of the belief that if you live in close proximity to others, you absolutely MUST respect their right to quiet enjoyment. Sod this go live in the middle of nowhere, I don’t have a spare million! I don’t think we should impact in a negative way on those around us.

SimonBridges · 09/08/2018 23:45

A sex pond is a hot tub.

We were on holiday a few years ago in an amazing place with a hot tub with a fantastic view.
DH was saying how lovely hot tubs were and I spoilt the moment by telling him they were sex ponds.

BrewDoggy · 09/08/2018 23:47

Good for you. People are so selfish these days.

Notcontent · 09/08/2018 23:48

Oh, I have neighbours like that out the back! A family used to live there, with small children, and it was lovely and quiet. Now it is rented out to some people who are constantly having friends over and parties. Last night they were out there until midnight making a huge racket!!!

Bugjune · 10/08/2018 00:11

That's something I'd do and I'm seldom in the right. Grin

rose69 · 10/08/2018 07:57

Call the council's noise nuisance team and start keeping a diary

Ivorbig1 · 10/08/2018 07:59

Good for you !
