Not an AIBU, but posting for traffic.
That are available on kindle.

Have a holiday coming up, maybe being naive but thinking might get some reading in whilst 18 month dd is busy/napping.

Love anything a bit dark eg Gillian Flynn, ghosty/haunted/thriller/crime stuff.

Really not keen on fluffy stuff a’la Louise pendland-ish books. 👀
TIA Smile

Not quite what you mentioned but you might like euphoria by Lily King - quite dark and very beautiful.

We Need to Talk about Kevin if you want something a bit dark and thought provoking, it's one of the books I couldn't wait to get back to when I read it, also anything by Angela Carter and Margaret Atwood, she of The Handmaid's Tale [which I recommend too].

Oblomov18 · 08/08/2018 14:57

'A thousand splendid suns'by Khaled Hosseini, first. Then, his other book:
'Kite Runner'.
Both good.

If you want fun thrillers with heaps of twists and turns and very fast paced then look up 'Ethan Justice'
Fantastic books.
There are 4 and he was supposed to be doing another ages ago but nothing yet.
