I know I know Blush

Recently passed test and the car has dead bugs soldered onto it with the heat so badly that I don't really want to hand wash it myself. But I'm embarrassed to admit I've not a scooby on how to use a car wash of the likes at Esso and Shell Blush

Is anyone willing to give me a losers idiots guide to using one please Blush

Average cost at car wash is about £6 whereas a hard car wash is £10 but the difference is the car comes out clean and less likely to be damaged , much prefer the hand car wash - just take a book - for £15 mine does an external wash and a mini internal valet

Lots of supermarkets have car wash guys in the car park. IME they do a really good job and it's about a tenner for a medium-sized car, which is a fair price I think.

Yes but this brings its own drama as you need cash and then which guy do you tip?!

Glaciferous · 07/08/2018 21:46

Um, the guy who did the wash, surely? I just go and find the person who I asked to wash my car and tip him. It's really simple. Ask chap to wash car, go and do shopping including getting cashback, return to gleaming car and pay nice man.

Um at all the car wash places around here a team of about 8 guys all wash it.....

When we lived in Brazil Dad used to wash our van himself. He used a long handled brush and a bucket of water with laundry soap.

My experience has been that most car washes are automated and the PPs are right - you get a code or token and then just proceed. There will be instructions on what to do when you get there.

I used an mobile app called GoWashMyCar
You just book it like you do with Uber, and you can select a time and service type. A bit more expensive than the guys at Tesco or Esso but definitely worth it given the convenience of not having to be present.
