Hi, my fixed rate bond with Metro Bank matured on 15th July 2018. I went into one of their branches about 3 weeks before this date and asked to re-invest the full amount for 18 months and filled out all the necessary paperwork.
Just checking through some of my financial papers today I realised that I haven't been sent a certificate of investment. I decided to ring and query this. I was told that a certificate is not sent unless you specifically request one. What the hell is that all about? Without the certificate how the hell can I keep track of my finances? What proof do I have of my investment? I don't wish for my £72,000 to just disappear into thin air.
When I advised the woman that other banks automatically send a certificate after the bond is re-invested she seemed very surprised by this.
Anybody else have any experience of this? I'm feeling a bit disappointed with Metro Bank at the moment.
