Obviously I wouldn't, but god he does not stop, he's loud, he doesn't listen, he's rude, he's hitting and shouting and all since nursery finished up.

Nothing I do stops him, well punishing him with taking away treats, TV time, toys. Then I feel really guilty.

If taking away treats etc works then you have to stick to it, even if you feel guilty. If he knows you won't follow through then the sanctions are meaningless.

You owe it to him to teach him how to behave now before he becomes an awful, entitled adult!

Yes @frecklesMaybe, because just 'doing something about it' is so easy isn't it.

Full sympathies OP as my DS (4.5) is exactly the same and I don't know how to fix it. I feel like I've gone terribly wrong somewhere along the line.

Yes. The OP has found something that works but then she feels guilty so stops.

It is easy. She has given the answer but doesn't see it through because of "guilt".

No, I do see it through and stick with it, it's been a tough few weeks, I'm also exhausted and over 7 months pregnant and feel guilty that I've spent he last few weeks punishing him.
And I'm not hoping to offload him to school, I'm hoping getting back into a routine and friends will chill him out.
