My friends coming over tonight for a movie night and pizza usually great at this but struggling to think of a film to watch. Please tell me your favourite films preferably from the horror or drama genre or classic must see movies.

Just looked it up, it's from 1985.

BikeRunSki · 05/08/2018 16:54

Rebecca

Much more modern, but I think a Classic waiting to happen, and beautiful cinematography - Catch Me If You Can

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is my all time favourite film!

HotSauceCommittee · 05/08/2018 16:58

I second “Catch me if you can”.
ConAir is cheesy but action packed. Copycat is a terrifying thriller. I still think Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal are really great too.
I enjoyed The Godfather series of films again recently.
Thelma and Louise?
All the Quentin Tarantino films.
The Shawshank Redemption.

LadyKyliePonsonbyFarquhar · 05/08/2018 16:59

Hail Caesar is a 2018 film with George Clooney and Channing Tatum. Part comedy/musical/crime. One of the best I have seen in a very long time.

NanooCov · 05/08/2018 17:11

I'm really looking forward to watching A Quiet Place (John Krasinski). Looks amazing.

Celestia26 · 05/08/2018 17:12

Sorry just seen your horror/drama requirements. In that case 'I know what you did last summer'. Classic nineties horror!

Claricestarling1 · 05/08/2018 17:17

Tremors, Predator, Terminator, Total Recall, The Running Man, The Orphan, Silence of the Lambs

I recommend ' Enough Said ' great film about 2 people finding love in their 50's , great acting by Julia Louis Dreyfus and James Gandolfini.

ALongHardWinter · 05/08/2018 17:20

My faves are:-
Quadrophenia.
An American Werewolf in London.
Keep the Aspidistra flying.
Withnail and I.
I also love all the 'Terminator' films.

Disquieted1 · 05/08/2018 17:20

For a girls night in it's gotta be Bridesmaids.

SilageMarner · 05/08/2018 17:23

If you want something a bit more recent, I liked “August Orange County”; “wolf of Wall Street”; “the post”. There’s always the new “it”.

Favourite horrors - I liked “insidious” and “the strangers”.

Firesuit · 05/08/2018 17:24

Dr Strangelove - comedy about nuclear Armageddon
Brazil - a sort of romantic comedy set in a totalitarian Britain
Full Metal Jacket and Apocalypse Now are the two best Vietnam war movies.
A Bridge to Far would be top of my list for second world war movies.
Groundhog Day will still be funny when it's 50 years old.
The Quiet American is good.

Lucked · 05/08/2018 17:32

The Philadelphia Story
The Last of the Mohicans
Terminator
Ghostbusters
The Thomas Crowne affair (mcqueens)
The English patient

An officer and a gentleman

And I like Pride and Prejudice with Kiera Knightly (controversial I know)
