Hi, I'm new to this forum and just tried a natural cycle of IVF. Unfortunately it was too late when it came to egg retrieval as my partner had already ovulated. The doctor was very sorry but we were just left to leave with a 'review appointment' in a week or so. Having got home we have a lot of questions and hope others who have been through a similar process can help?
We were scanned on day 7 and advised we may need to go back either day 8 or 9 - which turned out to be day 9. Second scan showed a follicle at 15mm so advised to keep an eye on the companies portal (main method of updates for this company). Had an update at 4:15pm after blood results which was quite urgent to take Cetrotide ASAP as LH had 'spiked' so a risk that the planned collection day 11 may be too late. I rang them and advised we were out so this would be 6pm and was assured that would be OK.
We were also advised to administer Ovitrelle at 8:30pm the same day.
From what we've read Cetrotide is used to suppress hormones to prevent ovulation and Ovitrelle is used as a trigger for ovulation and follicle development. Is this normal to take 2 drugs with seemingly opposing aims in the space of 2 hours?
Any help would be appreciated as we feel there is nowhere to get an independent view on this.
