Has anyone else heard about Bangladesh?

I just fell down the rabbit home on Reddit and in the past few hours a few people have posted that internet has practically been blocked by the government in Bangladesh.

Allegedly large numbers of students have been raped, beaten and even killed by either pro-government students or anti-protest groups.

Supposedly internet service has been slowed to a trickle and FB and YouTube posts/uploads are being deleted.

It sounds surreal (though hardly unthinkable), has anyone else heard this?

I came back from Dhaka last night. As of yesterday morning when I left, the protests were peaceful. As far as I’m aware, the only two fatalities have been the two students who were hit by a bus. They were struck and killed directly outside the hotel I was staying at.

Twitter has stuff about protests turning nasty and police firing rubber bullets, leading to fatalities.

Is it the same protests on the students attacked during Dhaka protest [[http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-45069935 BBC news report]]?

Sorry - messy link Blush

Yes, it is the same.

Had another look - search Bangladesh on twitter. It talks about arrests and the shut down of mobile internet. This on tweets from the last hour or so.
