DS had the pox for his first birthday, then again on holiday at the age of 5. He had a final bout when he was 8.

Someone told me that if they have chicken px before 2 then likely to get it again, don't know whether this is an old wives tale, I think some people can get it more than once and others don't.

No, nbu. But then, apparently I got mumps twice when I was a child.

QoB... your theory sounds right... DS had it three times after the first lot as a baby. DD only had it once at the age of 7.

It is apparently also more likely that they will suffer from shingles as a child if they had chicken pox before the age of one year. My DS is 13 and had shingles a few weeks ago.

I was told by a nurse friend that its to do with how bad they had it to whether or not they get it again, if they only had a light bout of it then likely to get again, but if had it bad then poss. only once, i had it bad when i was little but my sister had it light when she was young but then had it a bit later on and had it so bad it left scars
