To use a hot water bottle when pregnant?

Not sure what to do.

I'm 35 weeks with a terrible cough and have ended up pulling a muscle (I think) in my side. In absolute agony. And it's really tender to touch. Would it be ok to put a hot water bottle on my side? Obviously not boiling but I just feel I need something soothing on it.

I know I can't take ibuprofen. Is there anything else I can take? It's ds bday tomorrow and I know I'm going to be in absolute agony. I'm actually slightly worried I won't be able to even move in the morning.

Any suggestions?

Never really get many responses when I post on the pregnancy post so that's why I'm posting here

Thanks

I’m not sure about hot water bottles but I’ve been alternating heat patches and an ice pack for a muscle injury to my back

A hot water bottle will be fine. It won't raise your core temperature which is the potential risk with hot baths (and I've seen research disputing that).

Paracetamol are fine but not sure what else you can take without medical advice. Can someone get to a pharmacist for you to ask, although I suspect you will get the std "only paracetamol without prescription" or 111 for advice?

Thank you both. I've made a hot water bottle and taken paracetamol so will see how that helps. Hot water bottle is absolutely lovely - never thought I'd say that being so pregnant with the weather lately! It's just soothing the pain but is just on my side so no where near my stomach really.

Fingers crossed I'll be ok in the morning.

If not I'll be waking dh up early and sending him to the pharmacy for me

Thank you x
