Early heavy period - worried

Posting in AIBU for traffic.

Yesterday my period started a week or so early, and was and is still very heavy. Yesterday evening I leaked through my trousers onto the sofa Blushand it has been unusually heavy since with little clots and bright red blood...sorry if TMI. Exhausted tooSad

At what point do I get medical advice? I don't think it's anything more than an unusually heavy period but I can't help but worry.

Seek advice tomorrow from your GP. If you're soaking a pad in an hour or you're becoming so lethargic you're dropping off or you're breathless go to a&e

personally I would see a GP tomorrow, especially if you are quite regular normally. A week early seems a lot and the blood loss is unusual. As pp said if the blood loss is extreme go to a&e - hope you feel better.

Totally agree with PP

SilageMarner · 02/08/2018 23:36

Yep, another one saying give your GP a call. Most likely it’s just a blip/your body doing something odd this month, but always best to check 🤞🏻

Gileswithachainsaw · 02/08/2018 23:37

I would make an appointment with your gp tomorrow.

And agree with pp if it gets really bad or painful call 111 or hit a&e.

Thanks everyone. Will contact GP tomorrow if no improvement.

Agree with seeing a GP.

Sadly it's quite possible you became pregnant and are miscarrying. The exact number of miscarriages is not known for this exact reason - some women miscarry so very early in the pregnancy that the miscarriage is mistaken for a period.

I was a week early this month too. Let us know what the GP says!

This happened to me. I went doctors and a scan was booked. Discovered it was a subchronic heamatoma from a 20 week pregnancy! Take a pregnancy test just in case as well as visiting doc.

Seems to be lighter today, still a little tender around my belly but otherwise ok. Thank you everyone for your replies.
