AIBU to expext Amazon to refund me

I returned an item to Amazon which i believed to be faulty,i rang them as i couldnt get in touch with the seller
I was asked if i wanted the money to be returned to my bank or gift card,i said to my bank card
Wondering why it was taking so long i rang again today only to be told it had been put on a gift card, and cant be changed back
I had seen something on ebay that i was going to buy instead,but now have to get something from Amazon .
I am really annoyed, well furious really, cant afford to spend twice

Is there a complaints department i wonder,the man i spoke to said it has already beren transferred to a gift card and cant be changed back
I will check again for complaints

It cannot be changed back. No matter how much complaining you do. Was it the seller who refunded you or an a-z guarantee?

If you go on the live chat under the help section "chat to an advisor" they will sort it out straight away

Forgot to say when i looked to see how long it would take, it said refunded on 25th July--in Transit,. so assumed it would be in my bank by now,
This man at first said it should be in your bank by the 3rd August,then said it was issued as a gift card

If something is faulty you are entitled to a refund, not a gift card.

Call or email customer services. They were great when I called earlier this week.

Amazon have always bent over backwards to appease me if something's gone wrong. Get onto their live chat and type at someone. They've always been very quick to help and give goodwill vouchers for the most minor of issues, great customer service (but I suppose it has to be with how shit the rest of the company is).

I've never had a bad experience with Amazon customer service. I'd just call their complaints department and tell them what's happened they might surprise you.

Thank you.it was customer services i called, the first time and today, im not sure if there is another complaints department but i will try the chat
I am just annoyed that i have seen what i want on ebay, and was counting on that refund to pay for it
Actually i have never seen a live chat option on Amazon, will look now

I've just been on live chat. My Kindle died literally 5 days after the guarantee ran out and they've agreed to send me a replacement

Normally amazon have amazing customer service but if a gift card has already been issued you will struggle to get them to change it. They might do a good Will gesture but it wouldn’t be the whole amount.

Have tried chat but no one is answering, also looked on gift card issued it says none,so mix up somewhere i think,and refund issued on 25th July
I will see if it appears in my bank by the 3rd
Cant see what good calling customer services will do, as spoke to them earler
Also surely they should give me a full refund for faulty item

Sorry didnt see some earlier questions,i paid by debit card, and as couldnt contact seller rang amazon, the woman asked if i wanted a refund to my Dc or Gc i said DC
There was no option to contact seller

Use the "chat to an advisor" they usually sort everything out.

I work for Amazon and there is no way that no one is not answering their chat. Did you call a free phone number? We can't refund seller orders, we at most could have submitted an az claim for you

go on to the live chat and talk to them. I was looking to buy a repeat purchase tonight and realised I'd not had a refund for two items that I requested a return for in November last year and March this year. I told them that I honestly couldn't remember if I'd returned them or not as I'd sent back some other stuff at the same time and they gave me a refund with a choice of a gift card or to my bank.

Apparently there was a glitch with the chat line ,as got an apology and a link to go back to it
Then a few minutes later got an email from the man i was on the phone to earlier, saying there had been a mix up and he has now refubded my payment to its original order and will be in my bank in 5-7 days
So alls well that ends well,

Confused Well, now got another email late last night saying my refund would be as a gift card, one department not knowing what the other one is saying it seems,
I will have to ring them again today
