To ask where to get DS (7) a backpack for school?

Need to get DS a backpack for junior school (he's previously had a book bag at his infant school). Where is good for kids backpacks?! Something to hold all his bits and bobs and that will be fairly durable but cool enough for him to like!

John Lewis had some cool ones in the other day.

zeeboo · 31/07/2018 22:29

I always liked The Gap for school backpacks when my boys were small.

Squirrel84 · 31/07/2018 22:31

TK Maxx good for cool backpacks

Gottaloveatrier · 31/07/2018 22:32

I was surprised to find some great ones in mountain warehouse recently!

Kolo · 31/07/2018 22:32

My boys are all about Smiggle.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 31/07/2018 22:32

Sports direct.

GandolfBold · 31/07/2018 22:33

I was going to suggest Smiggle. A large chunk of the kids in DD's class have bags from there.

Pascha · 31/07/2018 22:37

Ds1's first one was a supermarket character one which the zip broke fairly quickly so the next came from TKMaxx and was double the price but it has a good strong zip and has lasted nearly two years so far.

Ds2 has picked one from Amazon so we will see when it turns up how good value it is.

JurassicGirl · 31/07/2018 22:41

We went to sports direct, when ds was 7 he chose a unbranded one that he liked the colours of (green/grey). Now at 8 yrs he chose a Nike one that's mostly plain black.

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 31/07/2018 22:41

Sports direct do some small rucksacks.

Faster · 31/07/2018 22:42

Asda.

ReckItWralf · 31/07/2018 22:42

Hype! Loads and loads of colours and designs.

buckeejit · 31/07/2018 22:43

Smiggle are robbing so & sos

ChesterCake · 31/07/2018 22:44

My boys use the mini MiPac bags and they’re a great size for school, they can even fit their lunch boxes in

Pretenditsaplan · 31/07/2018 22:45

We just got the new years one from hype hes been begging for one since last year so i treated him to the silver 'space material' looking one. Weve feild tested it and it seems good and because its stupid reflectiveits good for road safety and keeps food cool in the heat

Cooloncraze · 31/07/2018 22:49

Gap.
40% sale currently too. Just bought a great Star Wars one. Lovely design and good quality

Suze1621 · 31/07/2018 22:49

Some great kids backpacks at outdoor shops like Mountains Warehouse and Go Outdoors, realistic prices too.

ILikTheBred · 31/07/2018 22:50

Landsend Bags are practically indestructible - we have had three of them used daily for years and they are still in great condition. Well designed, lots of compartments and side pockets to hold water bottles etc. They make them to suit several different heights and they can be personalized as well.

Overthinkingagain · 31/07/2018 22:51

Aldi's school range this year has smiggle-like back packs, there's a gerneric one and one for each gender, DD loves hers n its a fraction of the price of the smiggle one she wanted. We've also always bought of ebay or amazon in the past.

FairyPenguin · 31/07/2018 22:52

Mountain Warehouse are great. Highly recommend getting one with water bottle side pockets to avoid leaking onto books.

GoingRogue · 31/07/2018 22:56

We got my 7yo a Dan TDM backpack from Amazon for Christmas which is still going strong. Can't see the exact same one on there now but think it was around £15 and he was the envy of quite a few classmates! I refuse to pay Smiggle prices and haven't heard good things about their quality.

harrassedmum18 · 31/07/2018 22:57

Smiggle don't last more than a term in my experience. We've tried all sorts but so far the most durable has been super dry bought off amazon. It's lasted two years so far. Well worth the money.

GoingRogue · 31/07/2018 22:58

Ooh I like those Landsend ones! Want one for myself Grin

Fatted · 31/07/2018 22:59

Bought 2 rucksacks for my boys from Asda and both are still going strong.

SoftSheen · 31/07/2018 22:59

Smiggle
