Hi, I’ve just booked our 1st family holiday abroad (me,dh, 3dc) we’ve never flown since we were young and kids haven’t flown ever.
It’s to Cyprus in 2 weeks Shock it was a combination of never having passports until now , big b day coming up & desperately needing one/wanting one before teenagers don’t wanna come away anymore that led to it being a last minute thing.
Please please could anyone help with any advice that may help, packing lists, airport advice/tips anything at all.
We really are totally clueless - I have been googling but to be honest my head is ready to explode with just researching/booking the holiday, can’t believe how stressful it was having to factor in so much stuff.

I am asking as I know that there will be really obvious things I would never even have thought to pack.
Thank you in hopeful advance!!

Crocs type fottwear are my essentials - great multi-terrain, multi-purpose shoes that take you into the sea, over rocks, safe around the pool, comfy for long walks, even over rough terrain, lightweight for packing, and to keep sand out of your hotel room.

I have worn my hat a lot to hide my mental hair! A couple of times when we have gone out I have blow dried my hair and it looks fine but the minute I step outside the frizz is back and I usually end up tying it back again. How I envy those women with sleek, luscious locks!

We have hired a car as we are up in the hills a little and there are no shops or restaurants within walking distance. We did a lovely trip the other day to the Kykkos monastery in the Troudos mountains. It was about an 1.5 hour drive from us. Our DS was mortified when we were all made to wear purple robes to cover ourselves. We have a great photo of him in his purple monk's habit desperately trying to get a signal on his mobile phone. I think he was trying to send an SOS to his mates to get him out of there 😀

Sorry forgot to add that my ears were fine on the plane but I'm a bit worried about going back. My ears are a bit blocked (always happens when I've been swimming a lot) so just hoping they don't hurt going up. I'm going to take some sweets to suck. I remember the days when the aircrew used to come around with boiled sweets on a tray just before takeoff and landing!

I like these kind of threads. I have 3 holidays soon, so taking notes.

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but buy one of the hand held weighing scales, to weigh your luggage. Take it with you, to weigh on the way home too!

That looks lovely! I’m very jealous. You will adjust to the heat a little after a few days but as I said in one of my previous posts it was the humidity that we really felt this year. It didn’t seem as bad when we were there last year.

Hopefully by now you will have seen a billion people wearing straw sunhats so you will feel comfortable wearing yours 😄 Would love to see more piccies and hear how you are enjoying your holiday.

Have fun!

Will definitely update as the week goes, thanks for remembering!! It is definitely a struggle esp as medical issues which heat affects unfortunately but hoping to acclimatise soon Grin def be back with pics tho!!
