So worried and fed up. I'm 39 in Oct. Been TTC nearly two years, had two miscarriages and a chemical pregnancy. Since the chemical in January I have been experiencing extensive spotting before AF. Last month I was put on luteal phase progesterone to deal with this, which helped to some extent. Now it's CD12, I expect to ovulate on CD16 or 17, and I am fucking spotting!! What fresh hell is this? Can I not have one month without some new symptom rearing its ugly head?!

More to the point, has anyone had this? CD12 is a really weird time for spotting, isn't it? It's brown and not enough for a panty liner but visible when I wipe. Any advice appreciated, I am so upset :(

Could you be ovulating early? I used to get this mid cycle and found out that's what it was.

Sorry for your loss, hope you have done positive news soon Flowers

Could be ovulation bleed...

But, and I appreciate this might be hard to hear, at 39 with your history, get thee to the best ivf clinic you can find.

Have you had your thyroid checked ?

Bambamber · 31/07/2018 14:03

My first thought was ovulating earlier than usual. Spotting isn't uncommon during ovulation and I wonder if the progesterone has had an effect on your cycle. Good luck!

Thanks both. @itchyknees i don't want IVF. DH and I have discussed it and both agreed that it's too much heartache to go through all that and then potentially to end in miscarriage again.

My thyroid was checked a year ago, all fine. I suppose I could be ovulating early but it would be very unusual for me, and I haven't had EWCM yet.

I can understand that. However, there might be something going on with implantation that’s causing the losses, for example, which a good clinic can treat. Before you rule it out entirely, have a read of “Is my body baby friendly?” By Alan Beer.
FWIW a top clinic will keep you monitored closely throughout the pregnancy, not just get you pregnant and then walk away. Good luck x x x

Was the TSH 2.0 or below
Nhs level thresholds are outdated for fertility TSH should be 2.0 or less

Sorry, I haven't experienced the spotting thing. We were TTC for 18 months and had two early miscarriages (although we're not at the same age group as you). But then we tried the SMEP method and it worked first time. It may be worth trying and it doesn't matter if you ovulate early (e.g. at 12 dpo). I hope this helps and you get the rainbow baby you both deserve. My heart aches for anyone in the position of wanting a baby and having difficulties achieving that goal. X

Update - the spotting has stopped now after being mixed with clear cm for a while and I can feel my cm is getting more stretchy, so I'm thinking it may just have been related to ovulation. Luckily for me I get very obvious ovulation pain, so I will know when I ovulate - I'll keep you posted! Thanks for the support :)
