Out in a fairly park in fairly urban part of London today with kids

After playing outside we went in to the cafe and sat down. I was hit by the most offensive smell ever - I thought first that someone near us had terrible halitosis or a strange body odour (it was a really bacteria-y stench, like something was dying - mixed with a weird sort of bleachy, burning rubber scent)

Turns out it was emanating from mud on toddler DDs boots Blush.

Double bagged and took home, where I have spent half an hour scrubbing with bleach and everything else I could lay my hands on. The mud is gone but the fucking stink is still there.

It’s not dog poo I don’t think- the smell is a very odd, distinctive one. Did she step in decomposing squirrel entrails maybe? Anyone had this?? The boots have now been put outside in the bin.

Is it fox? Fox poo smells like death, it's truly rank!

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 30/07/2018 20:05

Fox crap most likely. It is absolutely honking jobbie.

NonaGrey · 30/07/2018 20:06

Fox. Yuck.

Brew
AnExcellentUsername · 30/07/2018 20:06

Definitely sounds like fox poo. Good luck getting rid of it...

missbattenburg · 30/07/2018 20:06

Yep. fox.

Battendog rolls in the stuff if he can.

ToadOfSadness · 30/07/2018 20:07

Fox poo, or perhaps something had died and decomposed in the heat.

Domino20 · 30/07/2018 20:07

Yeah fox poo. My dog likes to roll in it like he's having a spa treatment. Big YUCK!

SoftAsACactus · 30/07/2018 20:09

Oh that’s what it is. Fuck! It’s the worst thing I’ve ever smelled in my life.

Fox poo smells like death. It is beyond grim. Badger poo too but probably less likely in London.

PenCreed · 30/07/2018 20:16

If it's fox, then apparently tomato ketchup will get rid of the scent if you want to save the boots. Dog owning family have had to use it when their dog rolled in fox poo! I''m not sure how you do it (smear on then rinse off? Leave on for a bit?) but Google will know!

Blobby10 · 30/07/2018 20:17

Goose poo is equally disgusting - whenever my dog rolled in either that or fox or badger poo when she was younger it took many applications of very strong smelling shampoo to get her smelling even remotely pleasant!

SoftAsACactus · 30/07/2018 20:18

Do I need to worry about DD? I have a feeling she was pawing at her boots while I was busy investigating the smell (she was probably trying to tell me something!) while simultaneously eating a cheese sandwich - god I hope she doesn’t get worms!

SoftAsACactus · 30/07/2018 20:18

Definitely not getting a dog now Grin

Ketchup! Great. Shoes are goners but I’m going to liberally squirt the sink with it as I swear it’s lingering there too

Fox or badger poo. Badger poo reeks worse than fox imho.

ToadOfSadness · 30/07/2018 20:30

Pet enzyme spray would get rid of the pong, might have to leave it on for a good while though.

Disinfectant or bleach on the sink. Keep an eye on DD, she probably didn't ingest any.
