Last night I got into a barny with a mother visiting my neighbour, after I spotted one of her children, sitting on my deck and breaking the heads off my flowers. I immediately went out of my house, told the kid to stop and to get off my deck. The child said sorry and slinked off. All was well I thought. Until his older brother (probably about 14 or so, big, huge 14!) said "Don't talk to him like that."

" Excuse me, "I said. My husband came out to join me and asked the children who were visiting our neighbours upstairs (we have a shared yard) to stay off our deck and stay in the garden. The older child talked back-again, with even more attitide this time, I told him not to speak to my husband like that and my husband asked him to get his mother.
"Yo Mum" He shouted up . Noone answered , he proceeded to keep yelling up "yo mum" to get her attention for about 6 or 7 times. We waited patiently.
When she came downstairs she asked her older son, what happened and he said we were screaming at her younger son.

Well that was the end of all sense of sanity as I know it. Without listening to anything we had to say, she started yelling and swearing at us both " Don't you dare scream at my kid? You have a problem you come and get me. Don't you @#$% scream at my kid. You have no right. What did he do, break some flowers, what are they worth, a pound or two? I'll pay you or get you some more. Don't you @$#&* at my kid."

I just don't get it.

What don't youget? It's clear where the children learnt their behaviour from.

Yes, you are being unreasonable.
You should have picked all your flowers yourself, wrapped them in a pretty bow, and given them to this delightful woman.

What a cow!!! Yep clear where the kids learned their manners from!

VoluptuaGoodshag · 31/05/2007 14:28

Not being unreasonable at all. Kids have to be taught respect and difference between right and wrong. I fear, however, that in this case it's a wonder it wasn't the mother doing the flower picking.

What is a deck?

I thought it was something to do with boats?

ViciousSquirrelSpotter · 31/05/2007 21:22

Er but no of course you're not being unreasonable, they're mad
