To top off a shitty day I’ve inhaled a fly. The little sods way down in my chest. Any ideas on how to dislodge him?

Honestly as unpleasant as it sounds I would drink loads and pass it the other end than trying to spit it out.

poppstar35 · 29/07/2018 19:10

I can’t. I literally inhaled him. He’s having a party in my lungs right now 😖

Say what?!

He's still alive inside you?

It's*

chicola · 29/07/2018 19:13

Really? I think that can be quite dangerous. How are you feeling?

FissionChips · 29/07/2018 19:13

I inhaled a ladybird (via my nose) once, I didn’t die.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 29/07/2018 19:14

Can I be the first to say, swallow a spider?

NeepNeepNeep · 29/07/2018 19:15

I don't know why you swallowed a fly.

SinkGirl · 29/07/2018 19:16

If it’s actually in your lungs that can be extremely dangerous, due to the risk of infection (the lungs don’t deal well with foreign bodies) - I read about a woman who inhaled a pin and had to have insane surgery through her back to have it removed.

It sounds crazy but I would seek medical advice to be on the safe side.

ShastaBeast · 29/07/2018 19:17

I’m sure it’s fine. Your body should flush it out with the mucus. Any breathing issues get help.

Had a google and seems common for runners and cyclists.

I would try to cough it out, I did that once and started getting wheezy and short of breath. I coughed and coughed until I got it out and then recovered. If you can’t cough it out I would go to the doctor.

poppstar35 · 29/07/2018 20:55

I suspect he was alive for a short while as I was convinced I could feel him. I tried desperately coughing him out & no joy.

I feel grim. Although I also know that this will be down to mental trauma rather than any physical issue.

I was arguing with DP at the time. Guaranteed way to loose an argument 😤
