Ikea delivery worth it?

Butterflykissess · 28/07/2018 23:00

I need a wardrobe and I really like the ones in ikea but its £25 delivery. Aibu to ask if its worth it? or are places like argos just as good. Everyone seems to rave about ikea but I dont live near one.

Much better than flat pack Argos in my experience. Depends what you're buying obviously but if it's like for like price I'd get IKEA.

crimsonlake · 28/07/2018 23:32

Rather than just buy one item buy as much as you need that will make you feel better about delivery charges.

Alwayscommuting · 28/07/2018 23:37

I bought Argos furniture and built part of it. Thought is was rubbish so took it back apart and returned it. I really like my Ikea furniture. Much better value in my opinion.

Ikea wardrobes are far superior to other flat packs on the market. They have a decent guarantee on them too which you don’t get elsewhere

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/07/2018 23:39

Yes, but while you’re at it see if there’s anything else you like to make it worthwhile.

ellendegeneres · 28/07/2018 23:47

I had my Ikea mattress (absolutely heavenly, highly recommend) plus a load of kallax, the boxes for them and some other random bits delivered.

I was in heaven. Still am, this mattress is my favourite Ikea purchase ever, and the tiny delivery fee was well worth it in what I saved for other furniture pieces. So I’d say order as much as you need- the one delivery fee covered it all for me. And while it wasn’t tiny it was well worth it

Rainatnight · 28/07/2018 23:48

Definitely worth it. Their wardrobes are great.

Monkeypuzzle32 · 28/07/2018 23:49

We bought new kitchen worktops from Ikea and they delivered the same day! I was impressed with that.

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 28/07/2018 23:50

Great value... we bought 2 pax wardrobes - for us to take them home it would have required hiring a van plus a 4 hours round drive. Like pp said make sure you add anything else you need to your order (towels, garden chairs, bedding, lamps... shame they don't let you order food Grin)

HollowTalk · 28/07/2018 23:50

@ellendegeneres Which mattress did you get? I need a new one.

User467 · 28/07/2018 23:51

I'd say they are worth it. Might be worth looking in local Facebook pages as some people offer a build flat pack furniture service which sometimes includes collecting it. A "man with a van" might be cheaper too.

Plural · 28/07/2018 23:56

It's half price delivery if you spend over 300 at the moment. For me it was worth it they brought it all up to the second floor, no lift, for me.

IWantMyHatBack · 29/07/2018 00:01

Yeah, worth it. Pax is a bit of a bastard to put together though (unwieldy as fuck) and I say that as a person that's singlehandedy constructed expedit, malm, kritter, trofast, lillangen, hemnes (several versions of), billy, and damn.. Random tables and chairs, bookshelves and beds that I've forgotten the name of.

The big ikea sofa that's since been continued can also fuck off

Fabricwitch · 29/07/2018 00:04

Yes I think IKEA is better quality, and doesn't look as cheap! I would buy a few things though, throw some teatowels or something into your basket
