30 yo guy, no kids, unattached. Living in London with City job (and living in posh area) but goes home to parents’ town every weekend... Why?!

CaoNiMa · 28/07/2018 15:02

I'd hazard a guess that it's because he wants to.

Combover · 28/07/2018 15:03

Thanks yes. Got that bit. I’m just wondering what the attraction is to go home every weekend as an adult.

To see his family? Visit friends? Maybe he prefers it there.

sirmione16 · 28/07/2018 15:05

He has no one else? Of course he's going to want to spend his spare time with his parents - their his family. He loves and respects them. What other reason do people need?

glintandglide · 28/07/2018 15:05

Maybe his friends are there and it’s nice to see his family

KinkyAfro · 28/07/2018 15:05

Is this your DP?

Egg · 28/07/2018 15:05

Maybe his parents are elderly / unwell and he wants to make the most of seeing them. Or maybe he just likes seeing them. Or maybe he has a secret wife and kids in the same town?

t3xa · 28/07/2018 15:05

Because he has a close relationship with his family? It's nice. I visit my parents at least twice a week. I'm pushing 30, good city job in a nice area?

SimonBridges · 28/07/2018 15:05

Because he wants to.
He has friends there, London can be a very lonely place.
His mum does his washing.
One of his parents is ill and he makes sure to visit when he can.

DioneTheDiabolist · 28/07/2018 15:05

Maybe his mum does a killer roast dinner and all his family get together for it.

LIZS · 28/07/2018 15:06

To retreat from citylife? To visit family and friends?

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 28/07/2018 15:06

Probably to get his laundry done.

MargaretCavendish · 28/07/2018 15:06

What's it to you? If this is someone you're considering dating then it's fine to find this off-putting; it doesn't mean he shouldn't do it, but it's ok to think it's not something you want in a boyfriend. If it's just an acquaintance or colleague of yours, then mind your own business!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 28/07/2018 15:06

some adults do actually like their parents company, maybe he worries about them, looks after things for them at weekends, maybe he's lonely doesn't have friends in London, has loads of friends back home?

AssassinatedBeauty · 28/07/2018 15:06

I would guess he has few/no friends in London and so goes home to see his family and home town friends. There may also be a slight possibility he is using his parents to do basic stuff like clothes washing and to get fed a proper meal if he can't cook.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 28/07/2018 15:07

Some people, get this, actually like their parents! I know! Incredible isn’t it? Shock

whatareyoueatingNOW · 28/07/2018 15:07

Because whilst he may live in a posh area and have a city job, perhaps he doesn't love city life? Perhaps he doesn't like the crowds and city feel? Perhaps he misses his family? Perhaps his friends and general scene are in his hometown? Perhaps he is saving- weekends in the suburbs are cheaper than in the city?
Loads of reasons really

FissionChips · 28/07/2018 15:07

How weird and creepy that a person would like to spend time with family Hmm

Bombardier25966 · 28/07/2018 15:07

He doesn't like London?

I know a few people that moved there for work but will come 'home' on a Friday night.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 28/07/2018 15:07

I'd love to go to my parents' house every weekend. They're great company and the food is lovely. Don't get me wrong, I'm a good cook, but my mum is brilliant 😁

Redfooty · 28/07/2018 15:08

For a lot of people that's the dream - work in the city Monday to Friday then go elsewhere at the weekend

Awrite · 28/07/2018 15:08

Prefers his hometown friends to his London friends? Has no London friends? Hates London?

thatisnotanoption · 28/07/2018 15:09

He may be a member of a sports club/team in his home area.

Combover · 28/07/2018 15:09

Someone am dating. It’s gone a bit weird hence I’m wondering whether there are deeper reasons. Thanks

slovenlys · 28/07/2018 15:10

Maybe he isn't single at all and he's spending the weekends with his gf ??
