Car hire company with low deposit

I need to hire a car from a UK airport and have some cheap prices coming up. But the credit card deposit amount isn't showing, I understand this is taken at airport and can be anything up to £2000. But the norm is around £500.

If anyone knows of any companies which have a lower deposit amount which is blocked from credit card please suggest them to me.

The amount the company take is usually related to the value of the vehicle. So if you hire a standard car say a Ford Focus or equivalent it will be approx 500 with someone like Thrifty. If you call their branches directly they will tell you the excess. I hire cars a lot and find that Thrifty are the most straightforward and Hertz (and Sixt of overseas) the most hidden bits and Enterprise good for customer service. Where re you hiring from?

I paid for the super dooper insurance waiver thingy at the desk one year when I didn't have enough on a credit card for the deposit block.

Obviously it made the hire much more expensive (hundred odd iirc)

Try Enterprise - iirc, there's is around £2-300

I hired from Sixt a couple of years ago and they were low but I can’t remember exactly what. Like you I was panicking because you can’t find out easily what the ‘deposit’ is.
