I’ve got an appointment due soon. The last couple of times I’ve had a new dentist. The first she stroked my cheek whilst checking my mouth out. The second she asked if I remembered her because she’d dyed her hair. Then she asked if I was married (I was then - nine months ago - we’ve since separated) and when I told her yes, she laughed and said “well that’s one change I can’t make then - marry you!” (I don’t think English is her first language). At the end of the session however she became very brusque and business-like, made a point of telling me she’d be extending the periods between our appointments and telling me to get out before she found something wrong with me. I left feeling very baffled.
Now, I’m hardly the most attractive bloke. Out of tall, dark and handsome I can manage just”dark”. And my teeth look god awful. So I doubt she was chatting me up. Is this just a jokey way of putting patients at ease or something? Because it kinda did the opposite.
