Me and DP have two single lads mates that live 2 minutes walk from us. I tend to be the mom of the group and regularly host drinks, bbq's in the garden etc.

Just had a text from one of the friends asking me if I want to go to a bbq and drinks at his tonight (his treat) - also note as the regular host I do this a lot. I text back yes, that sounds fab count me in!

I then get a text back "great can we do it at yours then cus our bbq is dirty?"

AIBU to tell him to piss off? I just wanted a nice chill, not to be the bloody host and to be lumbered with all the clean up afterwards!

CF indeed. Text back, No. See you at 7, plenty of time to scrub the bbq and get prepped!

Omg stop being their surrogate mum.
Tell him to fuck off and clean his barbecue.

Knittedfairies · 26/07/2018 16:55

Can you take your bbq round?

DestinationReached · 26/07/2018 16:57

Hilarious! Absolute CF. I second taking your bbq to them..if you can of course.

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 26/07/2018 17:01

Bloody cheek!

Tell him to get scrubbing.

Winegal · 26/07/2018 17:05

I've just told him the one way to "un-dirty" a bbq is to clean it to which he responded "but it's a pain in the arse".

I said "I know, I have to do it every time you eat of mine you bunch of gannets!" Haha.

I've told him I'll be round at 7 and expect the pimms to be chilled! Grin

Not surprised at how useless he is, he's nearly 28 and I had to show him how to peel potatoes last year!!

A friend who is 28 asked me how to boil an egg the other day. I linked him the Delia cookbook.

Good on you, OP, for not caving. You should definitely be taking turns, it shouldn’t always be your job. Stop being their mum!

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 26/07/2018 17:28

Pain in the arse to clean a bbq.

I think this calls for a well placed “Get over it buttercup”

Enjoy the PimmsGrin

Haha, thanks all! Enjoy your evenings!
