Just that really.
They’re going through a fussy eating stage and I’m too hot for another food battle!

If that’s what they want , it’s too hot to eat anyway .

dinodiva · 26/07/2018 15:59

Of course not, if they’re happy with it! My DD often asks for cereal for dinner after a nursery day. She went through a strange obsession with muesli.

Cismyass · 26/07/2018 16:30

In this weather it really is completely acceptable to eat whatever the fuck you can face. DD and i are bingeing on orange squash and 'eating' Frijj milkshakes.

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/07/2018 16:33

I really don't like cereal for humans kids. Starchy crap generally. But it's not unreasonable. Needs must and all that.

checkingforballoons · 26/07/2018 16:33

Waiting for someone to come along and ask A) ‘Where’s the protein?!’ and B) Tell you that cereal has a lot of sugar in Grin

Laiste · 26/07/2018 16:38

It's breaded chicken nuggets, tomato sauce and bread and butter for the 2nd day running here for DD4 4. Going to try and persuade a bit of fresh fruit for afters. Peach or banana.

That's as good as it's getting tonight! She's asked for it specifically and i Cannot be arsed to argue, it's too hot. plus she's so fussy and eats so little i hate to refuse her when she actually requests specific food!

YANBU lovely, cold milk.

WooYa · 26/07/2018 16:39

I want coco pops now 😫

BottleOfJameson · 26/07/2018 16:40

Maybe try and get some fruit into them at the same time but in short no YANBU to give them lovely cold cereal.

P.S. For some reason freezing fruit made it much more palatable to mine. Frozen banana blended up = banana ice cream. Frozen raspberries = colds sweets.

Smoothies are good snack when you don't want to near the oven.

Just made DH one (he's got in from work and is about to go out digging foundations)(in this heat!) 2 bananas, big blob of peanut butter, handful of spinach and lots of lovely cold fresh milk. Better than a stodgy bacon butty. Went down a treat.

Maliali · 26/07/2018 17:20

Go for it. Every Saturday evening DM made us porridge and toast which we ate watching Dr Who. In summer we had cornflakes and toast. I still remember that fondly and it felt a real treat. I didn’t have the awareness as a kid to wonder why we had that for dinner but obviously my exhausted DM with 3 kids, a full time job and no bloody help whatsoever from DF, was too knackered to do anything else.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 26/07/2018 17:22

Top tip: ice cubes in the cereal milk.

SnapAndFartAllDayLong · 26/07/2018 17:23

Nope not at All!! Mine are having big frankfurter sausages in baguette, even DH is having that 🤣🤣

I'm being more sophisticated and having sweet chilli turkey sausages in baguette 👍👍👍

Fried rice with all the old veg in it and a side of fish fingers here, and that's more damn cooking than I wanted to do. Cereal would have been a god send if they ate it.

ALongHardWinter · 26/07/2018 17:33

I can't see any problem with that. If it's just an occasional thing, where's the harm? I frequently have cereal for dinner

LoopyLou1981 · 26/07/2018 17:35

We managed some bananas and some raspberries with it and yoghurt for ‘pudding’. That’s about as ‘balanced’ as it’s getting today! 😂

My ds 7 had fruit, yoghurt and a bowl of porridge for lunch, washed down with two big glasses of water. He ate, he was happy, I was happy, win-win.

ThrownMuse · 26/07/2018 17:38

Dairy lea dunkers here! Dinner of champions!

crispysausagerolls · 26/07/2018 17:57

I’ve just eaten a box of Cadbury’s fingers in under 5 minutes - you’ll get no judgement from me! Chocolate not even a good choice in this heat, wtf is wrong with me 🙈😂

Might pinch this one
