AIBU to be addicted to my phone?

I hate how addicted I am to my phone. I cannot be the only one?

As soon as I wake up I’m on my phone. Checking Facebook, reading the news, messaging people, on Mumsnet, playing games.

If my battery dies anxiety sets in. I literally cannot go an hour without checking my phone unless I’m in work.

I feel silly for even being like this. I try to wean myself off it. Every now and again I get rid of Facebook. Or will turn my phone off. But it never lasts!

Has anyone been addicted and managed to change? If so how did you manage that? Is your life better for it?

I’m the same as you! I tried switching off at 9pm every day but it only lasted a few weeks... Willpower must be the answer but I do struggle.

I’m addicted to the internet in general. I’ve tried so many times to moderate my use it’s insane. I just cannot seem to manage it. I hate it. The worst part is it’s a genuinely useful tool. If it wasn’t for that I could quit cold turkey but I do so much online, keep in touch with rl friends and family, order groceries, pay bills, check my bank, plan outings. I literally wouldn’t be able to cope without the useful side of it.
