To think EDF should get stuffed

Bill not due for another 3 days was getting a number constantly call me found out it was EDF then got text message off same number asking to call them.
Called the number was automated payment line telling me my balance offering to take me thru to psyment.
I did make the payment and now the calls have stopped wtaf.

I wonder if that is actually EDF?

Sounds unusual. Have you tried googling the number to check it's legit?

Sounds odd. I am with edf and don't get calls from them.

Unless you are behind on a payment l?

Have you logged into your online account to see what is going on and if the payment is showing?

This screams scam... I'd ring the bank pronto!

I thought maybe they are been vigilant with me because I was few days late with last one. However bearing in mind that I have only recently been with them so no ongoing late payments.

I've been with. edf for ages and they have never contacted me, sounds dodgy to me. How do you normally pay?

Have you not got a direct debit set up?

As you've had a problem paying in the past this is them giving you a subtle nudge to pay on time. And it worked. I don't see the problem.

I have a prepayment meter with EDF, at one point last summer I was suddenly inundated with calls and texts from them while I was at work, panicking that something was wrong, I called them “oh well you hadn’t topped up for 6 weeks so we just call to check everything’s ok” “I topped up three days ago.” “Oh... oh yes I can see that”

I get emails fro npower asking me to send a reading by a certain date and then reminder emails and then an email just before due date to say I will have an estimated bill. I send reading on due date and then get a bill a few days later to pay by end of this month and 2 reminder emails since. I just ignore but I am thinking of complaining - they either want the reading/bill by a set date or they don’t

I went on live chat and they confirmed they had received payment. Didn't give any real reason for the calls.

I am on paper monthly billing then I either pay over the phone or online.
