Weed smoking neighbors

Aibu to be so annoyed at neighbours for smoking weed in their garden every evening...it comes in my windows and makes me feel physically sick (I'm also 8 months pregnant!) and is there anything I can do about it? I don't feel like I could approach them about it as I don't want to create a feud.

You dont live in Hampshire do you? There seems to be a shed load of weed smokers around here! Even worse if you live in a flat

I can relate, we have the same. But I actually quite like the smell, so the only thing that bothers me really is that they're doing it in close proximity to children, including their own.

If you don't feel you can approach them i think your only option is to close your windows, unless you could report them anonymously. Not sure how bothered the police would be though unless they're running a cannabis farm from the premises. Sorry op, not much help.

I have phoned the police and they weren't too bothered unless there was "suspicious" activity alongside the smell. Although they did advise me to contact environmental health as I'm pregnant and will soon have a newborn in the house. I will give that a try tomorrow. Thanks for your responses.

Telephone the police and inform them that your neighbours are consuming an illegal substance.

My downstairs neighbour, the next door neighbour of downstairs and neighbours either side of me all smoke weed all day long, from about 9 in the morning until 2/3am, my house constantly smells of it I'm absolutely sick of it. I can't just shut the windows whenever they do it especially in this heat as they constantly smoke all day. I'm considering moving it's that bad

Love the Ring the police answers, they are not bothered. Far bigger fish to fry. I feel for you OP, they should do it in the house or go for a drive to a layby or something.

Yes, the police have no interest about people smoking cannabis on private property. Big cuts, and far worse crime to deal with.

Realistically op there is very little you can do other than talk to them about it, or close the windows.

Sympathy as I have the same issue. My neighbour seems to have at least a 5 a day spliff habit.

Are you worried they'll be confrontational if you approach them or by simply asking them will create a feud?

Unfortunately I don't think even environmental health will be able to do much.

Know it's intimidating but I would approach them (maybe wait till they've had some and are a bit chilled out ) and explain how it's affecting you, they probably don't even realise how strong the smell is/ the impact on you and if they aren't complete arseholes will probably be embarrassed/ make sure their smoking doesn't bother you anymore.

If they are ares's then yeah, then go to environmental health and keep a diary of when and how it is impacting you.

Ring the police my god people are so naive - what exactly do you think they will say/do?

I also have weed smokers next door, my kitchen window can't be open as it's close to the boundary fence where they have an outdoor table and chairs to sit and smoke at. I'm not up for confrontation that won't change anything so I just close the windows and bitch to DH about them.

There is nothing you can do about it, just as there would be nothing you could do if they were smoking regular cigarettes, except close your windows or, if you are on speaking terms with them, ask them nicely if they would mind smoking further away from the windows.
There is no point phoning the police. The police do not have the resources to deal with people smoking weed in their own homes and have taken the decision not to notice it unless they come across it while investigating another crime or if the smokers are doing something to endanger children. If the police responded to every complaint about weed they would never do anything else.
It's a fact of life now. You just have to accept it, I'm afraid
