What do you do on a train when the luggage rack is full?

You’re on a busy busy train departing for 5 hours from London.

The luggage rack near the doors is fully packed in with suitcases. There’s no room for your case.

Do you,

A) Try and find room in a different carriage

or

B) Pull someone elses suitcase out of the luggage rack and leave it stood up on the floor.

I watched someone do B to my case and then see the case wheeling off down the carriage. I hope the China bowl I bought is not smashed inside.

AIBU to give them a firm shake of the head and tutt?

I would have said something as soon as I saw them doing it, or at the very least go and put my case back where it was.

ilovesooty · 22/07/2018 15:25

Yes YABU
Why didn't you speak to them and stop them moving your case?

JacquesHammer · 22/07/2018 15:26

I wouldn’t have watched someone doing B. I would have asked them to leave my luggage alone.

The only time it’s accetpable it to move luggage over to slot another case in.

NicoAndTheNiners · 22/07/2018 15:30

I hope you’ve been and removed their case and put yours back?

Kintan · 22/07/2018 15:32

I don’t understand why you haven’t said something?!

Shumpalumpa · 22/07/2018 15:36

OP if you say you just shook your head and tutted I am going to have to hide this thread in rage.

So?

trojanpony · 22/07/2018 15:37

Confused why didn’t you say something?

sonjadog · 22/07/2018 15:37

So what happened when you told them to leave your luggage alone and put it back?

haggispreservationsociety · 22/07/2018 15:39

Why would you watch!

Leonard1 · 22/07/2018 16:13

Just say excuse me that’s my case. Can you put it back up there again and find somewhere for your case. Suggest you ask if it can go up front (london trains have a carriage for bikes etc and will tag and take cases if it’s busy). Don’t be afraid to say something!!

Polarbearflavour · 22/07/2018 16:48

The thing is, people are so aggressive these days, you simply don’t know how they will react to polite confrontation!

ElementalHalfLife · 22/07/2018 16:52

Can't believe you didn't say something! Similar happened to me on the way to Manchester airport. I had big case that I slotted into the lower part of the rack, sat nearby. The rest of the rack got filled up. Two women got on the next stop, started pulling out other people's bags to squeeze theirs in. One of them was pulling on mine, and I said "What are you doing? Those cases were there first, and that one's mine, leave it alone." They looked at me like I'd got two heads but did walk away with their cases huffing.

BackforGood · 22/07/2018 17:19

Agree with everyone else - why would you watch ? Confused
Most people would have said something when they went to do it.

Violetroselily · 22/07/2018 17:34

I've seen people rearranging cases when luggage racks haven't been loaded very well (perfectly accapable behaviour) but removing cases is not on.

Did you say something?
