Just posted a photo online, Don't do that much but it was lovely photo of me. Been really self conscious about my bump. Someone commented saying 'you don't even look pregnant' - and I'm emotional over it as I'm desperate to look like I'm the 25 weeks that I am. Pregnant and emotional and feeling stupid for getting upset over a stupid comment online... AIBU? (Yes, I am. No idea why it's upset me!)

YABU (and your hormones might be all over the place). They mean it as a compliment, and congratulations btw Flowers .

UniqueMeta · 21/07/2018 23:42

Thanks @Keeptrudging - I hope so! I'm not usually an emotional person at all but I could cry at the drop of a hat...

Yeah it will be said as a compliment not anything negative

elephantoverthehill · 21/07/2018 23:43

Unique you post on line and you are going to get wankers. Concentrate on the positive responses. Every pregnant woman is beautiful.

hiddeneverything · 21/07/2018 23:44

Just get used to everyone remarking on all things bump and Baby related from now until eternity......

UniqueMeta · 21/07/2018 23:44

I'm just so self conscious that I don't look obviously pregnant. Argh. What's happening to my hormones?!

I had this said to me, and I felt disappointed too! I think it's largely because I felt huge and obviously pregnant and when someone said I don't look very pregnant I read that as "just podgy"! When it was not intended in that way at all :)

Rocinante1 · 21/07/2018 23:53

I never looked pregnant. Even when I went in whilst in labour, they asked if "mum to be was on her way up". It really annoyed me... no one ever believed I was pregnant, I just got looked at like some odd little liar when buying baby stuff etc.

But looking back, I don't think anyone actually thought I was crszy - it was just me being emotional and reading too much into their facial expressions.

UniqueMeta · 21/07/2018 23:56

I find myself getting upset when I meet other women who are the same number of weeks as me and they are just looking lovely and pregnant. I just look fat!

I feel the same don't worry! I'm 31 weeks and always get comments that my bump is barely there. They mean it as a compliment completely, they just don't realise it can be upsetting when we want reassurance baby is growing nicely!
Don't worry, people are gonna comment on your pregnancy and bump whether you like it or not and some things will rub you up the wrong way, it's usually people either not knowing what to say or thinking they know best!

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 22/07/2018 00:02

I remember feeling like that with dc1! Dc2 cured me of it though - bloody massive bump from day one, nothing fitted me, I couldn't get behind the steering wheel, kept bashing the bump off things.... I even accidentally ironed it once! (Ouch!)

honestly, try to enjoy it, or at least try to take the comment as a compliment, as I'm sure that's what was intended!

LuvMyBubbles · 22/07/2018 00:05

They are being nice
Enjoy being pregnant it’s one of the most amazing times in your life Flowers

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/07/2018 00:17

Better than when I took our cat to the vet when I was 8 months pg and he commented how big I was Shock

He quickly added that he had no experience with pg women ........but he dealt with huge pg animals ............

Turd.

UniqueMeta · 22/07/2018 00:43

Turd indeed!

I think I'm just being really silly...

I don't think many people start showing properly until 20-odd weeks anyway. Anything before that is mostly bloating.

Rebecca36 · 22/07/2018 01:46

Bless you! I remember crying over a can of lemonade that splashed everywhere when I pulled the ring.

Quite normal, not ridiculous and be glad you're not too heavy! The more you pile on the more you have to get rid of after you have the baby.

UniqueMeta · 22/07/2018 08:34

blanche I'm 26 weeks Sad

I'm on the other end, wish I was small but I'm 6 months and look 9 months. People say things like "Oh you're getting big" or "You don't look pregnant" and they don't mean it in a hurtful way. Don't think on it
