My baby is 17 weeks. Since birth she’s woken up on average every hour at night although more recently is managing a 2 or 3 hour stretch at the start of the night. After that she’ll wake somewhere between 30 mins and 1.5 hours for the rest of the night.
I have to rock her to sleep at the moment and she has never gone to sleep on her own except in car seat.
The 45 minute all night nights are pretty tough but I feel like I’m coping, as if I’m really tired I sometimes go to bed at 7 with her and grab the longer stretch of sleep (usually 2.5 hours max though by the time I’ve drifted off!) it’s easy for me to say I’m coping today as last night wasn’t too bad but nights where she takes 30 mins to settle each time are draining!
I do worry mostly that she’s not getting enough sleep herself, and I can’t see it improving on it’s own. One weekend she only woke 4 times rather than usual 6-8 but we can’t seem to recreate it!
She doesn’t always want to feed, we use white noise, were using a swaddle before she got too big, I’ve tried sleep programs and also just listening to her cues
We haven’t seen signs of 4 month regression yet...if anything sleep slightly better
I have been thinking of booking a sleep consultant, but what will they try other than CC? I’m not really comfortable with that and they said they had more gentle methods. I can only think of drowsy but awake, or side settling
I suppose if it works I need to weigh up the benefits of better quality of sleep for her against the possible stress of sleep training. I guess though if I am present and never just leave her to cry it shouldn’t be too distressing?
Any thoughts very much welcomed! I want to enjoy the cuddles but also make sure she’s healthy and happy and not overtired!
