DH making me sad!

Tomorrow, I'm taking the kids to grandparents house 200 miles away for a week. DH is not coming as he is working. Our plan was to have a lazy day together today, maybe go for lunch as a family and spend the day together.
He went out at 9am this morning with DS, to a rugby match and was due home around 11ish. He texted at 11 to say they were staying to watch the next match, then again at 12.30 to say the same, and they are still not home! It's now 4pm!
AIBU to feel a bit upset that he doesn't want to spend some time with me before we go away? Sad Or should i just get over myself? I have been on my own all day!

Where is your second child? You only mention your DS is with him ...... if both the kids are with him I wouldn’t mind, you can catch up once the kids are in bed.

If however he’s spent the day with one child and not the the other I’d be massively unimpressed

Sounds like he is having a lovely day out with your son so as frustrating as it is I wouldn’t be angey

Shylo · 21/07/2018 16:04

I’ve assumed ‘kids’ means two, sorry if I’ve underestimated :)

It's positive that he texted you and just didn't disappear. It's ok to feel a bit upset though. Maybe you could spend a day together when you all come back, in a week?

CocoaGin70 · 21/07/2018 16:08

I'd feel like he was avoiding me tbh. He's got the whole week to do exactly as he likes.

Enjoy the time on your own.

Other child is at a party/sleepover.

Sounds like he's just got wrapped up in watching the matches. It's a bit inconsiderate I guess but I wouldn't read too much into it personally.

Make the most of the peace Smile

Is this a one off?

On its own I wouldn't be too upset, I'd have enjoyed the day to myself.

If you're often lonely and not spending any time together that's different.

I'd be pretty miffed by that. I know he was having fun & a nice day but I'd find it hurtful & a form of rejection.
