Implant removal side effects

AIBU to ask you all when this will end? Yes, I probably am, and I know this isn’t really the right place to be asking, but I really want to know!

I had my Nexplanon implant out a couple of weeks ago, and I feel crappy - nausea, dizziness, cramps, heavy feeling in pelvic area, superhuman sense of smell (which doesn’t help the nausea!). No bleeding yet though.

I know it’s way too soon to be pregnant so it must just be my hormones going haywire. So for anyone who’s had the implant removed - how long til you felt normal again?

I've had 3x removals (1x Implanon, 2x Nexplanon) and never had anything like this. Might be worth checking in with your Doctor but possibly just hormone levels settling.

Also after my 1st removal I was pregnant within 2 weeks so never say never!

This may interest you: when my implant expired I started getting periods again, but with pretty much all the side effects you described from at least a week beforehand. Was horrible because I kept getting hopeful that I was pregnant!

So perhaps that comes down to the artificial hormones still being in the body but at lower levels? In which case your period may come soon and you may be fine by your next one- though hopefully there won't be a next if you're hoping to get pregnant! As PP said you should still test because I have heard of people ovulating the day after removal!

I've only just got my long expired one removed because I think it's been stopping me getting pregnant... hoping that's the only reason why!

Hopefully my period will come soon then and I’ll feel better once it arrives! I’ll give it another few days to settle down then take a test if my period doesn’t turn up.
