To ask for help? - lost toy

Hi everyone, I’ve not been on mumsnet for a good while, but I desperately need some help in locating my daughter’s lost soft toy.

It’s a snow leopard, and it was lost yesterday in Great Yarmouth, around Marine Parade/Joyland. It’s about 30/40cm long, and is quite floppy. I’ve attached a picture. We’ve asked at everywhere we went yesterday, with no joy.

If anyone could give any help in finding it, I would really really really appreciate it and so would 5yo DD! TIA!

I'm not in those areas but bump just incase your thread disappears

AndInOtherNews · 21/07/2018 11:04

I'm nowhere near either so have a bump from me! Hope you get it back.

niknac1 · 21/07/2018 11:07

Sorry also not my area, hope someone comes along who can help, is it your area can you try Facebook?

TurquoiseCat · 21/07/2018 11:16

No it's not, we're on holiday. We have put on the FB spotted in Great Yarmouth page last night, and although we've had some shares, we've not had replies yet.

We've contacted the company that made it (I think) to see if they can replace it - tbh I think we're more upset than DD, we got it from Twycross zoo for her first birthday - typical that this is the only toy she loses in nearly 5 years!

Sorry I can't help with finding the original but is this type that she lost? On eBay.

You’ve done your very best, if it can’t be replaced maybe get something else on another memorable trip and let your child choose?

Bump

WhatsGoingOnEh · 21/07/2018 11:28

If you sponsor a Snow Leopard with the WWF they send you a cuddly one.

You could repost on the Mumsnet Local - Great Yarmouth section on here.

Ring or tweet the local tourism office?

RainbowDoesDallas · 21/07/2018 11:30

Is this like it? www.amazon.co.uk/Wild-Republic-Leopard-Cuddlekins-Cuddly/dp/B01NCU5COH?tag=mumsnetforum-21
Wild Republic also do a larger one (DD has one and loves it).

Do Twycross zoo have an online shop? It might be worth calling them to see if they can post you one.
They do shop.myonlinebooking.co.uk/twycrosszoo/shop/category.aspx?catID=2

WhatsGoingOnEh · 21/07/2018 11:34

Yay! Just buy her a new one and have it delivered so it's waiting for when you get home.

TurquoiseCat · 21/07/2018 11:37

Thank you everyone for your help - I've tweeted Twycross, I'll try the tourist office next.

I was scouting the internet last night, but I can't find the exact one anywhere - DD has a lot of snow leopards, this was the first of the collection.

We will keep trying...!

Did you see the link to the Twycross Zoo shop that @RainbowDoesDallas posted? They're selling snow leopards.

TurquoiseCat · 21/07/2018 12:09

That is very kind - it's not the one though. The one Twycross has now looks very similar, so if I can't find the same one, it will do.

Another bump for you. Hope you find it.

Sweets123 · 21/07/2018 14:42

Have you tried putting up a post on the local facebook page for the area? Hope you find it!

TurquoiseCat · 24/07/2018 15:02

Just a bump to see if I can get a little more help. I've ordered the one from Twycross, but it is ever so slightly different. I've put a post on Facebook to try and track it down that way as well (as below):

PLEASE SHARE - LOST TOY APPEAL:

On Friday 20th July, my daughter sadly lost her snow leopard toy on Great Yarmouth front, near/in Joyland. She called her snow leopard ‘Big Sidney’. We retraced all our steps, but Sidney hadn’t been handed in anywhere.

Unfortunately, this was her most precious teddy - we got Sidney on her very first birthday, and it was the toy that she always went to when she was scared or worried about anything. Sidney even helped her face a crocodile on the very day we lost her!

We are doing our best to try to find Sidney, and would really appreciate any help in locating her, or finding an identical replacement.

We got Sidney at Twycross Zoo in September 2013. She’s around 35cm long from nose to start of tail, and she has some beans in her feet. She is very soft with floppy legs, and although she is fluffy, she is a little worn after life with a toddler/young girl and a few trips through the washing machine!

If you could share this with anyone who nights have picked Sidney up from Great Yarmouth, or might have a replacement they would be willing to sell us, we would be thrilled.

So please share with anyone and everyone - together we can find Sidney! Thanking everyone in advance!

Bump

rachy22 · 24/07/2018 17:21

Have you tried @lostteddybear on twitter? People upload if they find toys, and you can put out an appeal... 🤞

TurquoiseCat · 24/07/2018 23:09

Thanks for that, I've put it on there as well. Had a disappointment earlier - thought I'd found an identical one, but it wasn't right... It's horrible getting your hopes up for nothingSadBear

Just another bump before bed. We worked out (from trawling and trawling and trawling the internet...) that it's made by ravensden (already emailed them to see if they have any).

If anyone did visit Twycross about 5 years ago, and might have one of these in a cupboard somewhere, I would be more than willing to pay a fair price for it.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 25/07/2018 10:33

You're a lovely mum. But honestly - get the zoo one, give it to your adorable DD and tell her it's the cousin of her original one, so it's slightly different. Wouldn't that be ok?

I always used to think my DC would be heartbroken by things like this, but they were always fine. 😃

You're going to so much effort that I'm wondering why? Is it because it was a 1st birthday present?

Gotthetshirt23 · 27/07/2018 00:19

Isn't mumsnet strange ! One lost toy gets hundreds of replies with people searching charity shops and online . This one ? About 20 ?
Hmm

Kpo58 · 27/07/2018 03:57

Have you looked on eBay? There looks like a couple on there.

So sorry to read this OP. Giving you a bump in solidarity (still not over the loss and partial replacement of Jessie the Cat!).
