To think new builds should come equipped with ear plugs?

Honestly these new builds are packed so tightly together. Have they always been built like this?

Right now I'm getting barking dogs, slamming doors, music, hammers, drills?! All of this at 11pm.

Please tell me I'm not alone?

We once had a modern house. We could turn the sound off on the TV and watch quite happily just with the sound from the neighbour's TV.

I think that anything built from about 1985 on is not great build quality. Plasterboard to separate rooms FFS!
