To think she's a CF?

Went to go and see a wedding reception venue at a hotel. The day before she (the sales lady) sent me a quote based on 50 people (the minimum required) and everything included. It said the bride and groom would be able to stay in a room after the wedding for the night.

But when I went to see her, she asked me again how many guests, I said it would only be 50. She then asked me how many guests would be staying in the hotel, I said I couldn't say at this point. She then said "you would be able to receive a 10% discount on a room." I said I thought the room was included (as per the quote), and she said "Oh we've recently changed it." In a day? The website and brochure still says it's included Hmm

AIBU to think if you say something's included in a quote, you honour it? Especially if it was only the day before! This has made me put a big X next to this venue. Angry

I’d be avoiding that venue.

If they’ve changed their terms their paperwork should match.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 19/07/2018 21:04

Yup she’s a chancer. Just don’t book it as a venue
Drop an email to manager that their print and website content contradicts sales pitch
Just think if they’re willing to pull fast one before youve booked imagine the arse ache of that being your subject to change venue

ScreamingValenta · 19/07/2018 21:04

They're messing you about already, and they haven't even secured your business, so avoid them.

spudlet7 · 19/07/2018 21:05

Did you challenge her on it? She's just trying her luck. Bang out of order though obviously

thunder029 · 19/07/2018 21:08

I did challenge her, and she went a bit "errr, ummm...." and then said it was included only on deluxe packages. But that's not what the paperwork said!

I had similar - went to look at a venue, all lovely, discussed various options and the two price ranges they offered....

But as soon as they realised we only had around 50 guests suddenly it was a "prime date" and we could only the £100 a head package......

Wedding was on a weekday in December..... Hmm

Needless to say we didn't get married there!

I would avoid! Who knows what they may try to add in or take away in the future.

Whocansay · 19/07/2018 21:31

You could never trust them. Just don't bother. You just know there will be more grief in future.

Find another venue.

Former wedding and events manager for a number of hotels (over 10 years experience).
Was the hotel part of a chain or independent? Can you name the brand?
I've had this on a few occasions when the big bosses make changes without speaking to us and we just have to suck it up and keep smiling.

Could it have been she meant 10% discount on upgrades?

thunder029 · 19/07/2018 21:33

Nope SharronNeedles she said it wasn't included at all.

It was an independent hotel

Ring up and pretend to be a new person enquiring and see what the new rates are.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 19/07/2018 21:43

Why expend energy on a place you're not going to book?
