I moved offices very recently. I am now with new bunch of people, one of whom talks, almost non-stop, just too loudly to be able to tune her out, largely about parenting issues.

For example: how her brother and SIL are bad, lazy parents of their SN daughter, how they left her with grandparents to go on a short break and she has never left her son ever (he is 7 or 8 I think).

and so on and so on and aaarrggh. I'm seriously considering bringing in earplugs as she is really making me grind me teeth

judgemental obviously

Does anyone else listen and respond, or is she just talking to herself?

fairyjay · 29/05/2007 15:57

Tell her to give her ds a break, and go on holiday

Tigana · 29/05/2007 15:57

Other colleagues sort of "hmmmming" and giving fairly short answers generally. But sometimes they ask a question and it gets her started all over again.

fairyjay - my thoughts were along those lines

Tell her to come on here and we'll soon sort her out!

The trouble with modern office life is that you can no longer tell people to SHUT THE FUCK UP

I think you've already got the answer, Tig. Very large, very loud ear plugs .. and make sure she can see them.

Next time she starts up, stick them in and starting humming the tune to The Dambusters.

Tigana · 29/05/2007 16:04

ear plugs ahoy!

Oooh Tigana - I hate people like this. The worst ones are those without kids who think they know everything about being a parent. My favourite came from an old school friend sans kids who told me I was selfish having just the one childD and should have another one asap. WTF??? She is TTC soon so I will be laughing so much when she finds out parenting isn't as easy as she thinks. Evil? Me? Never!
