Aibu to think that Emma's mum deserved to be murderers for abandoning her sick daughter? Hated any other time Norman went on his rampages. But don't feel at all sorry for this woman

Spoiler alert really? It’s been out for ages and the title of the thread is Bates Motel s4 e1, it’s pretty obvious it’ll be about something in the first episode of series four!

I agree with you OP.

It's been a while since I watched that episode, but I'd agree that Emma's mother wasn't very sympathetic (and I didn't particularly care about her, one way or the other).

However, I think we're supposed to consider how it will affect Emma. Even though she's had a bad (or at least conflicted) relationship with her mother, she might have eventually been open to patching things up and having her mother in her life again. Now Norman's taken away her chance for a reconciliation.

@AmericanEskimoDoge yeah, I agree there. I'm only on s4 ep 2. But I feel that Emma already knew she had no relationship with her mother and that is why she clung on so much to Norma (possibly as her mother figure) and my first impression when her mom said she left the dad as he had "violent tendencies" was laughable. Some 40 episodes in he has shown nothing but compassion and love towards his daughter. I'm over thinking this programme lol
