I live in a normal, friendly suburb. Yesterday, I dropped DS5 off at school, did some grocery shopping and stopped at a petrol pump on the way home, with DD2 in the car seat behind me. Next to the petrol pump is a building site, and the exit road from the petrol pump is also the access road for the heavy machinery at the building site.
As I was pulling out, a heavy digger was coming towards me. As I wasn't sure I'd have quite enough time to pull out in front of it (don't know how well they brake etc) I waited about 20 seconds to let it pass first.
There was a car behind me with three men in it. The driver honked and gave me the finger, then cut ahead of me. All three stared at me as they went past (I feel they must have seen DD as well).
I shrugged it off and drove home, only 5 mins away. As I was reversing onto my drive, I realised they must have dropped behind me and had followed me home. They slowly did a U turn in front of my house, and pulled to a stop, all 3 glaring at me. I locked my doors but then they just drove off.
I feel ridiculous that I felt so scared. I'm a grown woman, in my own house. They shouldn't be able to intimidate me but, especially with DD in the back, I felt so vulnerable.
Why do people do this? Why did it leave me so upset?
