To have breakfast for lunch? (hear me out)

33 weeks pregnant.
Iron levels a little low, I am getting them up without prescriptions by eating iron rich foods and getting rid of tea.

But this morning I seriously craved tea and toast - so i caved and had it. Usually I would have half a grapefruit, OJ and a bowl of iron-fortified cereal.

Would it be dreadful for me to have breakfast for lunch? It would leave me veg low...

Yes I am having a bad day, yes I need a bit of kid glove treatment...

I have no idea why this would be a problem sorry. Pregnancy aside you should eat what you want when you want anywau.!

ifoundthebread · 18/07/2018 12:27

It will be fine. One day low on veg isn't a big deal.

BlueBug45 · 18/07/2018 12:27

Who cares?

The joke for years was students eating cereal for dinner/tea.

TeeBee · 18/07/2018 12:29

No such thing as a bad meal, only a bad diet. You're sweating far too much over it. So long as your general diet is good and well balanced, one meal is not going to make a blind bit of difference.

Bluebug I feel like I missed this... I may have to go and buy Coco Pops...

Just eat what you want? Confused

Not sure what the issue is. Sometimes I have leftover dinner for breakfast. Grin

Slanetylor · 18/07/2018 12:39

Have a carrot as a snack later.
Or don’t bother even. It sounds like you take your diet seriously. A few missteps is fine!

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 18/07/2018 12:41

Kindly, eat whatever you want whenever you want. Food and meals are socially constructed, there’s no reason for certain foods to be relegated to certain times of the day. I quite like eating rice for breakfast.

LustyBusty · 18/07/2018 12:46

Because I go to the gym in the evening (and follow a lowish carb, highish fat diet) I eat my meals pretty much backwards, much to the hilarity of my colleagues...
I start work between 7:30 and 8 (contracted from 9, so anything before 9 is unpaid). At around 8:30 I have breakfast, usually roast pork and veggies or chilli or something traditionally "dinner" like.
Lunch is homemade soup, (chicken and vegetables) or a salad.
Late afternoon (4:30ish) I have "morning tea" of no-carb muffins (scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage, spinach and mushrooms baked in a muffin pan), work till 6 (paid till 5...) then go to gym 7-9ish
When I get home, I have tea and toast or porridge/overnight oats and protein smoothie Grin
Long story short.... Eat what you want, when you want.

Slippery · 18/07/2018 12:49

Lusty - why are you doing souch unpaid work? And why is it relevant?

Spam88 · 18/07/2018 12:49

At 33 weeks I was basically existing on dairy milk and cheese...

Slanetylor · 18/07/2018 12:52

@slippery I was wondering that too.
Is it to show that your every waking moment is working or gym? Is there nothing you enjoy in life other than working 2.5 hours for free? Reading? Meeting friends? Maybe I’m missing the point.

LustyBusty · 18/07/2018 12:53

@slippery the unpaid work is cos there's too much to do. The relevance is the thread I read last night complaining about people eating at work!

anothernameagain000 · 18/07/2018 12:53

I’m sure you’ll remember this thread with a wry smile when you’re eating cheese on toast or similar at 2am once the baby arrives Grin

TheViceOfReason · 18/07/2018 13:27

The hand wringing over one less than perfect days eating on MN is crazy.

Plenty of women go through an entire pregnancy only keeping down rich teas / eating mcdonalds / craving only ice cream and bonios.

A bowl of cereal at the "wrong" time of day will do you no harm.

If you are concerned eat some carrot sticks as well.

Caribbeanyesplease · 18/07/2018 13:31

Do you have an eating disorder or history of one OP?

Mississippilessly · 18/07/2018 13:43

Caribbean no, none Confused
Thanks all. prob is I could happily eat cereal and ice cream all day everyday...
