(Wrongly) Loving some of the replies on the Blackpool thread and thought I'd open it up to worldwide.

I do love a good awful hotel story! (Sorting trip advisor reviews to be lowest rating first is a great way to cure boredom!)

I hope you all have wonderful holidays this summer, wherever you go - but please entertain me with stories of your worst ones!

I'm not sure that all the people saying how shit Blackpool have actually ever been (or Benidorm for that matter, there was a thread earlier this week about how awful Benidorm is).

We're lucky that we've never had a total holiday disaster. There's been the odd mild annoyance like lots of wind and rain while camping in the Lake District and North Wales, being lost at sea during a scuba dive (wasn't for long but was a little unnerving at the time) and the boat breaking down and someone ending up in a decompression chamber on another diving holiday (he was fine, it was just a precaution).

Thinking about it, I think a lot of it is down to personality and expectations. Other people could describe a week of rain during a camping trip to be The Worst Holiday Ever I'm Never Camping Again or talk about things going a bit wrong during scuba diving as An Absolute Disaster, but all the above holidays were 90% fine and it helps to have low expectations hotel wise - most are much cleaner than our house, I don't particularly care about the decor/furnishings etc and we usually stay SC/B&B so we make our own food or eat out, so have never been in the situation where we've gone AI and had to pay again for food because the hotel food was dreadful or not to our taste.
