So we have a week in October half term to fill. We don’t want to go abroad as we need a cheapish week.

2DCs aged 2 and 6. I think a few days in Blackpool would be fun - illuminations, funfair etc. DH is being v negative and thinks it will be a bit rubbish - tacky, crappy hotels and sod all to do.

AIBU or would it be a fun holiday in Autumn?

I don't feel safe walking around in Blackpool during the day, and never would at night.

I love Blackpool! I’ve got two small children so we were back in the accommodation before the stag dos started, we never saw any of that. They loved the pleasure beach - disagree there isn’t anything for yours to go on, there’s loads. The tower, tussauds, sealife centre, circus... we’ve got Merlin passes so that didn’t cost us anything but you can buy a pass for all the attractions I think? We have also stayed in ribby hall, we loved it there. And went to Manchester Legoland Discovery centre on the way back.

Don’t forget when you’re asking on Aibu that you’re asking people who aren’t necessarily the same as you or have anything in common, or even be anywhere near the same age, so it’s hard to get a balanced view.

I would go for the day if i lived in the same county or stay one night in a premier inn. Im down south the cost of one night in a b and b in brighton is the same as a couple of flights to spain!

Its awful. However if you must go, stay a few miles down the road at St Annes. Nice little beach and much more civilised. Grew up near Blackpool its awful. The lights used to be great but not now. There are so many nice places in England
