to think that going on maternity leave shouldn't make a difference to votes in Parliament

Seems the pairing system has broken down in the House of Commons. Jo Swinson is on maternity leave and there was a crucial vote tonight. Normally MPs are paired so if someone is away because of illness, someone is paired so their absence doesn't matter.

Looks like that didn't happen tonight and her absence made a difference.
