To think discounts can be a bit silly

At the weekend my dh got half price entry for somewhere as an NHS working and my mum got reduced as over 65. Then three of us (who together earn less than my dh) paid full price and my mum has way more disposable income than any of us three.

I don't resent any of these discounts but it does strike me as a bit od. No discount for universal credit and that's a shame.

They're not given altruistically - I think that's where you're getting confused.

They're given to improve the companies image & increase profit by attracting customers who otherwise wouldn't go at all if they had to pay full price, and who usually bring (as in your case) other full paying attendants.

It's a sales technique not a kindness.

Oh god no. My sisters always ranting about people on benefits getting free mediciation I imagine her and others would be up in arms if people on benefits were getting discounts aswell!

This kind of drives me mad too. My parents have free bus passes, discounted entry to days out, £3 cinema outings (with free coffee!), no TV License, Warm Home discount etc and much much more disposable income than us! I know they've worked hard for their money but it's galling to hear about all the money they've saved/not spent when I am scrapping the pennies out of my wallet to take kids out all summer hols (3rd wk of summer holidays here).

you would hate us,

we have 2 children on the highest amount for dla and 2 adult carers on carers allowance,we also home educate

everywhere i go you get free carers and either half price disability or 3/4 off the 13 y old also has a blue badge

i also ask for a home ed discount for each child(providing its before 3 and on school days)and ive never been refused in fact majority put the 2 together

we get the warm home front yearly also and the £25 when its cold
