Bad service and false advertising

I have been have been having a very bad experience of shopping on Rituals Web site. Never again will I shop with them. They advertise a free gift if you spend £45, on the sale page this advert had NO small print, so I spend £45. And they do include the gift, saying it does not apply to sale items. If you spend ages looking all over the website you can find the small print which says this but on the page of sale items, they say to spend £45 and you will get two tan enhancer products. I am disappointed in them and will never shop again, they could not even bother to do a good will gesture. They are advertising falsely. Has any one else experienced this. I feel cheated and conned.

Right on the front page it says:

OUR GIFT TO YOU
Spend £ 45 and this tan-enhancing duo from
The Ritual of Karma which consists of
a shower scrub (30ml) + sun tan (30ml) is all yours.

*Whilst stocks last. Max. 1 gift per purchase online and in store.
Not in combination with other promotions.

So you'd have to be a bit dim not to work that one out.

Bit of an overreaction.

Cancel your order and get a refund.

Rocinante1 · 17/07/2018 15:45

Had a look and spotted it straight away. This is an error on your part, not theirs.

Complain to the Advertising Standards Association - this is exactly what they're there for.

green you're advising the Op to make complaint because she cant read ?

itbemay · 17/07/2018 15:48

Just shopped in duty free rituals store, huge bargains. Not helpful I know but I do love rituals - smells so good!

It’s not them, it’s you. I once had to have a fifteen minute argument with a lady - I use the term loosely - who failed to understand that ‘Buy one pizza or pasta, get another free’ did not mean one pizza or pasta . . . and a fillet steak. And another who ordered a salad containing pancetta, then complained that, because she was a veggie, she ‘obviously wouldn’t know what pancetta was’.

KittyHawke80 · 17/07/2018 15:53

If it’s the tan enhancer thing, you don’t have to search for it, and it isn’t in small print. It’s right there.

Ineke · 17/07/2018 17:09

There is no small print on the email they sent me, but I am using an iPad so maybe a laptop is different.

Nope, clear on an iPad that it's not in conjunction with any other offer. Can you screenshot the email you received?

Ineke · 18/07/2018 01:33

YI have screen shot it and sent it to Rituals but I don't know how to put it up on Mumsnet.
