To not buy new school cardigans for dd2?

Ahead of the new school year I am just in the process of figuring out which uniform bits I need to buy before the end of term.
I kept all of dd1's previous cardigans with the intention that dd2 could use them but looking at them now, they have definitely seen better days! The colour has faded and there are stains on them from whiteboard pens which I was unable to get out at the time. We can afford new ones but obviously would rather not spend the money if we don't have to. I can't figure out if IBU. What do we think?

I send DD I'm faded cardigans with (small) holes in because she takes it off as soon as she gets to her classroom no matter what the weather

I'm chucking most of ours at the end of this year - the whiteboard pen stains are at a level beyond acceptability for me. I'll keep the least-wrecked ones for spares toward the end of the year when they've lost most of them but the bulk of ours I can't decently get another year out of. Ours are a colour that shows up marks more easily than if you've got a dark navy one though - the colour fade issue's OK - it's the state of the pen marks in them that makes ours unredeemable.

Are the cardigans expensive to replace or can you buy them from supermarkets?
If they are cheap I would replace. If they are expensive I would see how the fit and go from there. I am not replacing my child’s blazer because it has pulls in a the material. When my youngest needs a blazer they will have a new one. Throughout Primary school I have handed down uniform, sometimes I couldn’t repair the cardigans but we were allowed to use any supplier to replace.
