I have a PS4 in my house hold. PayPal account set up showed error message as was buying DD a £20 voucher for fortnite. Instead the next day Nephews spent £100 coming straight out my account. PlayStation got banned by PlayStation due to unauthorised payments.
Back up and running 3 days later. No more PayPal account on there can’t buy anything. A day on the PlayStation DD and nephews playing I warned them no more buying stuff I don’t care I will throw the PlayStation in the bin. What do you know another ban.
Could actually scream. Phoning PlayStation to get robbed off the won’t tell me why there’s a ban. I asked the kids what happened. Nephew thinks a friend reported them. DD said my nephew was buying more stuff!

I don’t know who I’m furious more at the kids or PlayStation. DD mostly uses the PlayStation for you tube and to watch cartoons. Only plays fortnite when her cousins are on.

You forgot to be furious with yourself.

How come the nephews know your passwords? How can Sony / PlayStation stop them spending your money?

Cherubfish · 16/07/2018 15:58

Don’t let your nephew play on your PlayStation again. Ever. Simple.

Invisimamma · 16/07/2018 15:59

Why do they have access to payment details? This should be locked down!

FuckPants · 16/07/2018 16:00

It's your own fault, password protect the payment details.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 16/07/2018 16:01

Why would PlayStation ban someone for spending money? That doesn’t make sense Confused

You need to either stop them playing, set up your account with better controls or actively police the use of it. They’re obviously breaching something if they were banned.

FoofFighter · 16/07/2018 16:02

No sympathy if you haven't the awareness to lock it down re payments

Strawberrymelon · 16/07/2018 16:09

Can you password protect your payment details? What age are the kids?

babycc29x · 16/07/2018 17:16

The PayPal account got removed from the PlayStation after the first instance that I took the blame for. PlayStation have since said there’s a debt on the account. As far as I was aware you can’t purchase with out voucher or payment details. My DD and nephews don’t know my passwords for these accounts I let them on for an hour to play while i made dinner and cleaned there mess.

10 and 8

the youngest at 5 wasn’t playing fortnite as he was more interested in the Nintendo switch playing A Lego game.

Don’t let your kids use technology you don’t understand.

babycc29x · 16/07/2018 17:23

I’ve since told the 3 of them no more PlayStation I’m putting a ban on it when the 3 of them are together.

My DD only wants the PlayStation to watch her cartoons but I’ve told her she needs to learn a lesson even though it wasn’t her. I’ve since told my sister and she laughed “he does it all the time” wtf Hmm

Here's an idea be a parent and delete the game.

Ohlellykelly · 16/07/2018 17:28

Sony love a ban. It's annoying.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 16/07/2018 17:29

So they're clearly old enough to know it's real money they are spending, money that isn't theirs?
Also, one report from a person wont get them banned, since malicious reports do happen, there would have to be a pattern of multiple people reporting.
It MIGHT have been flagged as a potential compromised account if they've tried to buy more stuff so soon after an unauthorised spend of £100 on the account. It's easier to ban it than the faff of trying to reverse purchases/refunds etc.

babycc29x · 16/07/2018 17:30

It’s not just the kids that play it I have family members (2 brothers) that stay and play it all the time.

DD is limited 1 hour per day, due to the nice weather she’s not been interested unless my nephews are there.

It’s all password protected.

The same thing happened to us. I'd removed my PayPal authorisation but my son still managed to make purchases. PayPal reimbursed me though. Have you been in touch with them?

babycc29x · 16/07/2018 20:27

Yeh honey, this caused the first ban due to charge backs. I’ve since kept an eye on my paypal incase it’s came out but nothing has came out
