DD 1 year old has a raging temperature and is very tearful, a terrible cough and out of sorts.

Called GP and arranged a call back but they haven't called yet (after 2 hours). I called the surgery and they said she's on the call back list but they can't say when.

Last time I arranged a call back they called at 5:30 and told me it was too late for an appointment and to go to the walk in centre.

So, what are my options? It's obviously not an accident nor an emergency. I do want her to be assessed because it might be a chest infection and she's only 1!

Is there another number or anything else to do between GP and A&E?

Call 111!

aperolspritzplease · 16/07/2018 14:44

Just go to the walk in centre?

Singlebutmarried · 16/07/2018 14:47

Take her to the surgery. Ask to see someone if she is that bad.

GrumpyBagFace · 16/07/2018 14:48

Can you go to the walk in centre of it's not out of hours? I thought it was an out of hours service?

It depends on the exact location. Our walk in centre is 24hrs but not all are.

I would call 111.

Imchlibob · 16/07/2018 14:50

111 is definitely 24 hours a day

Call 111 they may ask why you haven't gone to the gp but just explain and at her age they should be fine

If it's a permanent walkin then yes you can go whenever

Don't wait ...even if it turns out to be nothing temperatures are not great at that age
